This project involved the rehabilitation of the No. 3 Vernon Creek culvert. The work included the dewatering of Vernon Creek through the culvert, maintenance of the water management system, preparation, repair, and geopolymer coating of the inside of the existing elliptical culvert.

The dewatering of the work zone included fish salvage, and a tote bag cofferdam. Two 10″ pumps were used to concentrate Vernon Creek’s flow through the existing culverts using suspended 10″ hoses. The repairs were completed using cement-bentonite grout and flowable cementitious fill. The culvert was lined with geopolymer mortar while accounting for the original corrugations of the culvert.
