Location
NE AlbertaLandmark was retained to design and build a replacement crossing over the Sand Creek in Conklin, Alberta. A GRS supported arch was designed to replace the existing single lane bridge constructed 40 years earlier. The arch was chosen as it allowed the new road to be double-laned without significantly increasing the cost of the project.
Landmark’s project highlights include:
- Installing a 16 meter span arch with a 36 degree curve over a flowing creek without dewatering,
- Using local in-situ material for backfill, greatly reducing overall cost by eliminating expensive import of aggregate,
- Allowing 24-7 traffic for the duration of the project.
Another successful project done in collaboration with Terratech Consulting Ltd.
