Landmark was retained to design and build a replacement crossing over Sand Creek in Conklin Alberta. A GRS supported arch was designed to replace the existing single lane bridge that was constructed 4 decades earlier. The arch was chosen as it allowed the road to be elevated 3 meters, reducing the dip in the road and also allowing the new road to be double-laned without significantly increasing the cost of the project.

Landmark’s project highlights included:

  • Constructing the new arch underneath an active haul bridge, eliminating the requirement for a temporary bypass bridge and road.
  • Using local in-situ material for backfill, greatly reducing overall cost by eliminating expensive import of aggregate.
  • Allowing 24-7 traffic for the duration of the project.

Another successful project done in collaboration with Terratech Consulting Ltd.
