The City of Williams Lake was contracted to carry out the construction of a pedestrian bridge over the Williams Lake River immediately downstream of the Highway 20 bridge. The new pile-supported bridge included reinforced concrete abutments on the west and east sides of the river channel and a segmental block retaining wall on each side of the river channel complete with geotextile reinforcing and backfill, and subdrains. The placement of the new steel girder bridge superstructure was put in place using a 550T mobile crane with precast concrete bridge deck panels placed along the full length of the bridge. A glulam guard rail and treated timber guard rails were constructed along the bridge length, adjacent approaches and gravel pathway.
