The Regional District of the Central Okanagan originally tendered for a complete re-building of the existing Cottonwoods Bridge. However, Landmark, recognized that a prefabricated pedestrian bridge would be more economical. The bridge services Mission Creek Regional Park, a 92-hectare nature reserve located in the centre of Kelowna, BC. The park contains over 12 km of hiking trails including a self-guided interpretation trail featuring two crossings over the Creek. Aesthetics were important in such a beautiful setting and the chosen structure included a gently cambered truss design with naturally-weathering steel finish and timber decking.
